Adding email records in Hostinger
Hostinger's DNS zone editor uses @ for the root domain and only the subdomain part, such as shop, for anything else.

Steps
- In the Hostinger dashboard, choose Domains in the left sidebar, click DNS and select your domain.
- Under Manage DNS Records, choose the type and enter the name, content and TTL.
- Add the record. It then appears in the list below, where you can edit or delete it.
Common mistakes
- Importing a zone file with Replace permanently deletes every current record, including website and email records. Choose Append to keep them.
- Hostinger's DNS page does not manage a domain whose nameservers point elsewhere. Hostinger says to use the DNS tools of the platform those nameservers belong to.
- Restoring a DNS history snapshot rolls back later changes, and Hostinger warns that it can affect your current website and takes time to apply.
- Hostinger domains don't allow custom nameservers (NS records) for subdomains, only for the main domain.
Watch out for
- Domains registered elsewhere but using Hostinger's nameservers appear under External domains.
- The DNS history tab can restore an earlier snapshot of the zone.
Frequently asked questions
Is Hostinger's default TTL fine for a TXT record?
Yes, unless you have a specific requirement. The default is 14400 seconds (four hours), and Hostinger's SPF guide uses 300 or the default.
How soon should I recheck a Hostinger record after saving it?
Hostinger says to allow up to 24 hours for a change to propagate before treating it as missing.
How do I combine Hostinger Email with another sender's SPF?
Put both includes in one record, for example v=spf1 include:_spf.mail.hostinger.com include:emailmktprovider.tld ~all.
Can Hostinger add the Hostinger Email SPF record for me?
If the domain uses Hostinger nameservers, the SPF guide offers Connect automatically. Otherwise add the record manually at your DNS provider.
