Adding email records in Porkbun
Porkbun leaves the Host field blank for the root domain and takes only the subdomain part for everything else.

Steps
- Log in to Porkbun, open Domain Management and click DNS under your domain.
- In Manage DNS Records, click Add Record and choose the type.
- Enter the Host (blank for the root domain) and the Answer, keep the default TTL and add the record.
Common mistakes
- A CNAME at Porkbun needs a Host that is neither blank nor shared with any other record, so it cannot sit on the root domain or beside a TXT record of the same name.
- The error "A CNAME or ALIAS record with that host already exists" means an existing record already holds that host, often a default parking record pointing to pixie.porkbun.com. Delete it before adding the new record.
- Using Porkbun Email with DNS hosted elsewhere means copying the default._domainkey and _dmarc TXT records from Porkbun DNS to that host, and deleting any existing MX records there.
Watch out for
- Nameservers are changed in a separate menu from DNS records. Porkbun's own are curitiba, fortaleza, maceio and salvador.ns.porkbun.com.
- Porkbun suggests dnschecker.org to confirm new records are propagating.
Frequently asked questions
Does a Porkbun nameserver change show up everywhere at once?
No. Porkbun says most places see the change within a few hours, while the full worldwide update can take up to 48 hours.
What SPF value does Porkbun Email use?
v=spf1 include:_spf.porkbun.com ~all. To add another sender, put its include: in that same record.
Can I point the root domain at a host name on Porkbun?
Use an ALIAS record. It works like a CNAME but is allowed on the root domain, but it only passes through A and AAAA records.
What does parking a domain at Porkbun remove?
Parking removes ALIAS, CNAME, A and AAAA records for the root domain, www and the wildcard subdomain. TXT and MX records are not in that list.
